There are limitations in the use of all plastic materials and we must mention that the buyer is fully responsible for the final decision making in selecting a given type and make up of a container, closure or other packaging material. The buyer is cautioned that testing must be done prior to the packaging of any product in plastic.
As a general guide, the buyer should consider the following:
High Density Polyethylene (HDPE)
High Density Polyethylene is a strong material. It offers impact resistance and can be handled without damage or defect. A clear bottle is not made in the HDPE material. Although it is excellent for water based chemicals and compounds, it is not recommended for petroleum or solvent based products.
Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) PET is FDA approved for all food types. PET has superior clarity and is up to 85% lighter than glass containers. It is shatterproof and has an excellent oxygen and moisture barrier with a good solvent resistance.
Important Information It is the customer’s responsibility to check and test the compatibility of the product with the container and closure. Cleveland Bottle & Supply Co. assumes no responsibility for product and container / closure compatibility. Caps and closure options presented will fit the container selected, however, are not necessarily recommended.
