This method is used to produce printing directly onto metal containers and closures. Artwork, supplied by the customer, is photographically transferred to a metal printing plate and flat sheets of metal are imprinted on a large press. After imprinting, the metal is cut and formed into containers, such as metal pails, or closures. Lithography requires considerable volume to be cost effective but produces very high quality results. Please note: This method usually requires truckload purchases (10,000-25,000 pieces) to be cost effective. Back to Top of Page
Labeling imprinted directly on the container Silk Screening is a technique that is well established in the labeling industry. A silk stencil is made from artwork supplied by the customer using a photographic technique to transfer the image. The image on the silk is a reverse image which allows ink through the silk to print the artwork. The plain area of the design is blocked by a solid area on the silk. In essence, the absence and presence of solids on the open mesh or screen allow the inks to pass through to the container. Silk Screen printing can be done by hand on a small scale or on a large scale by machine. Cleveland Bottle & Supply Co. has fully automated equipment to perform the process on containers. The process can also be done in one or two colors from 1/2 dram to 5 gallon sized containers. A palette of standard colors is available as well as the capability to supply any custom color. Send your artwork and color preference via mail or email attachment to: Mail: Cleveland Bottle & Supply Co. 12201 Elmwood Avenue Cleveland, OH 44111-5903 E-Mail: SilkScreenLabels@ClevelandBottle.com 6. Cleveland Bottle & Supply Co. will then provide you an image and color proof for your approval if requested by the customer. Back to Top of Page
Slip-on Sleeve Labels
Slip-On Sleeve Labeling is popular for plastic, glass and metal. This is a plastic polyethylene sleeve that can be applied by hand or automated equipment, which slips the sleeve onto the container. Sleeve Labeling is a cost effective method if you can use the same size label for several different products. The sleeves can be inventoried at Cleveland Bottle & Supply Co. and containers prelabeled per your directions on each order release. This labeling method is also done quickly and effectively with minimum labor and labeling equipment. Please note: This method usually requires large purchases (10,000-25,000 labels) to be cost effective. Back to Top of Page
